Scholarship Benefits

Different award amounts are given to students to pay the cost of tuition for non-Tennessee residents studying abroad and at home. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other institutional scholarships that cover tuition and fees.

Key Information:

  • This scholarship is renewable for four years (eight semesters) and recipients are required to enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • To maintain scholarship eligibility, undergraduate students must maintain continuous enrollment during both fall and spring semesters.
  • They must achieve a minimum UofM GPA of 2.75 in the first two semesters and a UofM GPA of 3.0 or higher in subsequent semesters.

Graduate Student Eligibility Requirements

Graduate Students must meet at least one of the following criteria eligibility requirements as an incoming undergraduate:

  • 310 GRE with at least 150 in GRE Verbal AND 150 in GRE Quantitative AND 2.5 AWA or equivalent GMAT scores.
  • 3.25 U.S.A. equivalent cumulative undergraduate degree GPA as determined by a credential evaluation agency (www.naces.org) or relevant masters degree from an accredited and approved institution.

Key Information:

  • Graduate students must be continuously enrolled in full-time credit hours each fall and spring semester to maintain scholarship eligibility. Additionally, graduate students must earn a 3.0 UofM GPA or higher every semester.
  • All scholarships are awarded for the academic year (fall and spring semesters only).

Important Information

  • Permanent residents and/or dual citizens are ineligible for this award. The International Merit Scholarship for Undergraduates is exclusively available to first-time candidates. Students who are enrolled or continuing their studies are not eligible to apply for this grant.
  • Student-athletes must abide with NCAA regulations.

How To Apply For The Scholarship

  1. Access our Scholarship website.
  2. Locate and click on the Tiger Scholarship Manager.
  3. In the upper right-hand corner of the page, find and select the “Sign In” button.
  4. You will be redirected to a new page. Make sure you are on the “Applicants and Administrators” tab.
  5. Sign in to your profile using your University of Memphis credentials.
  6. Complete or update your General Application. If you are a first-time user of the Tiger Scholarship Manager, follow part a. If you have used the system before, proceed to part b. (a.) You will see the “General Application” page if this is your first time applying. Read the instructions carefully and fill out the required form (note: questions marked with an asterisk are mandatory). Once completed, click on the blue “Finish and continue” button at the bottom of the page. (b.) If you have previously used the system, review and update your “General Application” by selecting the “view” option. Once completed, click on the blue “Update Your Application” button at the bottom of the page.
  7. Based on your General Application answers, you will see “Recommended Opportunities.” Click on the scholarship name for detailed information. To apply, click the blue “Apply” button next to the scholarship.
  8. If there are any additional new questions, provide your answers. After completion, click on the blue “Finish and Submit” button to submit your application.

Monitoring Your Scholarship Applications

  1. To track the progress of your scholarship application, click on the “Applications” tab in the upper left corner of the page, and select “Active.” This will display all recommended scholarships for which you have submitted an application.
  2. Under the “Active” section, you can view your submitted applications.
  3. For detailed information on your application status, click the scholarship name to access your application. Your status will be listed under the “Category” section on the left side of the page.
